Boomzilla Sound, Oakland, 6 pm - 9 pm
I typically shy away from bar-focused events in the spirit of this newsletter, but this one has many cute food pop ups and DJs. At Oakland venue Cry Baby. Free entry.
Saturday, August 20

Oakland pole studio Atomic Allure is hosting a picnic with outdoor poles! There are demos and just general hanging out. Free.
Quartz Art Market, Oakland, 12 pm - 5 pm
An art market at Oakland’s Omni Commons on Saturday has a ton of cool vendors. Music, art, handmade gifts, ritual objects, and tarot readings! Masks required. Free.

New vintage store alert. Slant is hosting its opening on Saturday in Piedmont, which will include food pop ups and a raffle. Free entry.
Smartbomb’s Loud Cinema, San Francisco, 8 pm - 1 am
Whew, anything from Gray Area is worth attending! This weekend the experimental music and tech incubator is hosting a cinema event, featuring a live score for an avante garde film from Olga Spiegal. $20.
Sunday, August 21
Chair Takeover, Oakland, 5 pm - 10 pm
OK I am going to be honest I am not 100% sure what this is - I believe they may be selling vintage chairs? At a Chicano-centric event? At Snail Bar, Oakland’s buzziest new wine bar and restaurant? Sounds fun! Free entry.
